Week 8: Back to School Night
This "Back to School Night" presentation informs parents on what 21st Century skills are, the importance for their children to turn these skills into habits, and how my teaching style will reflect these skills in the classroom. Parents get an idea of the type of work their children will be completing in class and at home. The classroom website is linked at the end of this presentation. In theory, the website will have a a list of assignments and a calendar of due dates so parents can actively be involved in their children's education. This presentation is intended for parents to become aware of what is to be expected from their children to be successful in this class and to become acquainted with how I will be teaching the subject matter.

I enjoyed your powerpoint! It was very easy to follow and did not have too many words on each slide. I liked at the end how you added the classroom website and your email. I think this is great for parents to know because they see what their child is doing at home for homework. Since you will be a math teacher, they know you will be teaching math. This powerpoint shows them the 21st century skills that their children will be learning as well.
ReplyDeleteI liked your presentation, even the colors you chose were interesting. The power point was informative of what the students will need to know to be successful in the class, and i liked you mentioned how to contact you which is very important.
ReplyDeleteYour screen cast was very smooth, flowed, and sounded professional. It followed the power point presentation spot on.
ReplyDeleteYour powerpoint is great, and includes many good ideas. The one group project is a good way to teach team work and the trial and error idea encourages students to take risks.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the power point presentation. I think that not only does it clearly explain what 21st century skills the students will be learning, but it also gives the parents a taste of the teaching style you will be using with their children.
