Week 7: Podcast
This podcast is designed to be extra help on a classroom lecture. Solving an equation for "x" is a very crucial skill to master because this skill will be used in almost every math class as the student advances. To help students master this math skill, the podcast gives a step by step method on how to solve these specific equations. Students are required to solve the problem along with the podcast to practice the steps involved. At the end of the podcast, the general steps are summarized so students are able to refer back to the podcast if they need help solving different equations of this kind. Math lessons can be overwhelming and the homework can be frustrating, so having this type of podcast available to students as a reference outside of the classroom will be beneficial in clarifying questions or roadblocks students may run into.

Hi Georgiana! I think you did a great job on your podcast. You were very clear and concise. You were very energetic instead of boring (students I know do not like to listen to boring professors). Math is a confusing subject to many kids, so being able to listen to their teacher at home if they are having trouble is a great method. Sometimes just looking at the textbook or notes are not enough. I felt like I could be a math expert at the end of it!
ReplyDeleteThe podcast was great, especially the summary at the end. Math is a troubling subject for most people, solving for X was a good choice. Your tone of voice was good, and the the podcast was concise.
ReplyDeleteI liked your podcast. It's 'back to the basics' which when kids get overwhelmed with math, can be a really beneficial resource. It's a way for the kids to be able to be in an environment that comforts them, listen to you and take their time with hammering out the details in their own time. Sometimes we don't capture everything we should in notes, because we are focused on writing and not understanding and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteNice podcast. Utilizing podcasts for math seems like a very underrated tool. Students could actually keep their eyes on the math problem, while listening to instructions, as opposed to going back and forth between the equation and a textbook lesson. You could even have students make their own podcasts explaining their thought processes while solving difficult problems.
